Solar Panels installed at Litchfield Middle School
The Litchfield School District recently received a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation for $10,000 to purchase solar panels. The district was required to match the grant total by 10%. As a result, the district has installed seven solar panels on the south end of Litchfield Middle School.
While the grant benefits the district by providing energy through the use of the solar power, it also provides our students with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of this important alternative energy source. As part of the grant program, Litchfield Middle School Teachers will attend workshops to better utilize the solar panels as an instructional program. Through the use of a web interface our students and community are able to see real-time and historic data on the energy the panels are producing. We invite you to visit the site to see the impact these solar panels are having on our district and environment! Click the link below to see the panels at work!
