Welcome to the Litchfield Community Unit School District website for the 2012-2013 school year! As a district, we have a proud tradition of excellence, while striving to meet the ever-changing needs of our students. The district has been recognized for earning the SchoolSearchTM 2010 Bright Star Award for educational excellence. The District is one of only 81 Illinois School Districts (out of 869 school districts) to be honored with the 2010 Bright Star Award. This is the second consecutive year the district has received the Bright Star Award.
SchoolSearchTM awards school districts that shine in spite of low funding, although they are not a proponent of low funding for school districts. The award criteria are based on districts whose students' academic performance ranks in the upper one-third of Illinois school districts, but whose expenditure per pupil ranks in the lower one-fourth of Illinois school districts based on 2009 Illinois School Report Card Data.
